Financing Your GLS Degree

Tuition aid for every GLS student is built into our basic pricing structure, which includes reduced tuition rates specially calibrated for our program. Additionally, students who are US citizens may study either full- or part-time, thus spreading costs over a longer period. Duke employees may be eligible to use their Employee Tuition Assistance benefit towards the costs of GLS. We also offer limited merit-based tuition awards and research support to students at various points in their GLS careers.

Beyond GLS, student loans and other outside support, including employer assistance, may be available.  We recommend that you also consult the Graduate School website to research funding avenues that might be open to you.

GLS Merit Awards

Thanks to the generosity of our endowment donors, GLS is able to offer a limited number of merit awards to students at various points in their careers.  These include our Director's Awards ($5000 entrance awards), Endowment Awards, and Lottie Applewhite Awards to support Master's Project-related expenses.

    Student Loans

Qualified students may apply for federal and private loans to finance part or all of their education. For a side-by-side comparison of federal and private loans and a list of recommended private lenders, see Loans for Professional and Graduate Students.
