The Glory of the Renaissance, Summer 2017-Accommodations and Costs

Course Fees

Students taking the course for credit will be given the first option of registering.  The cost of tuition for a GLS course is $3,945 and GLS tuition scholarships will apply.  The cost for an auditor is $1,800.  

The cost for room and board in Florence and Rome and train fare from Florence to Rome is $1,300 ($1,250 for double occupancy in Florence*).

Not included in these costs: airfare, ground transportation to and from the airport, personal meals and incidentals, books, and other personal expenses.

Accommodations

*Lodging in Florence will be at the Sanctuary B&B Firenze (7 nights, June 12-June 18). A limited number of single rooms with private bath are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Twin rooms with private bath are available at a slightly reduced rate. Breakfast and wi-fi included.

Lodging in Rome will be at the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies, also known as the Centro (6 nights, June 19-24). All rooms will be single occupancy. Breakfast and dinner on weekdays and wi-fi included.

GLS will provide group meals at the opening and closing of the program. Entry fees to museums and historical sites are factored into the cost of the program and are covered by GLS.

Participants will arrive at noon or later on Monday, June 12, 2017 and depart after breakfast on Sunday, June 25, 2017.

Deposit

The course will be capped at 12 participants, with the possibility that we will extend the number of participants to fourteen if the need arises.  A non-refundable deposit of $750 will be due by February 15, 2017 and will be billed via your bursar account.  (Registration for summer 2017 begins on Monday, February 20.) You can register your intention to take the course with the GLS office and we will maintain a first-come-first-serve list and if necessary a waiting list.  However, in order to reserve your place in the course, you must submit your deposit by February 15, 2017. 

Summer tuition will be billed via your bursar account in April and is due by May 12, 2017. Any remaining balance for the room and board portion (minus the $750 deposit) will also be charged to your bursar account at this time. GLS scholarship will be entered approximately two weeks prior to the start of the summer term.

Auditors may pay by check, made out to Duke University and mailed to Graduate Liberal Studies, Duke University, Box 90095, Durham, NC 27708-0095.
