GLS Biweekly Update April 26, 2022
Hi GLS Community—
I can hardly believe we have reached the end of the 2021-22 year – my third as GLS Director. Each year so far has had its own challenges, but this one promises to end on the most “normal” note yet. I especially look forward to our Exemplary Master’s Project Showcase on May 5th and my first-ever in-person GLS Hooding Celebration on May 7th (more on these events below). The regalia is out and ready to go!
I know that Lisa, Kent, Malina, and I will savor the opportunity to share joy with this year’s thirteen graduates, each of whom have completed their degrees under circumstances most of them did not imagine when they joined us at Duke. Their resilience and adaptability inspire us, and I am so impressed by the thoughtful and creative master’s projects all of them produced even during these unprecedented times.
To the rest of the GLS community, I send my warmest wishes for health and time this summer to do things that are meaningful to you with people you care about. Your GLS staff will spend summer – as we usually do – planning for the program’s future and preparing to welcome an interesting new class of incoming students in August. We will remain available to you throughout the summer – just an email away at any time.
Thank you all for making GLS a wonderful place to work and learn,
Anne
