GLS Biweekly Update December 14, 2022
From the Director
Happiest of holidays, GLS community!
Congratulations to all of you for finishing what I trust was a fulfilling and interesting fall semester. Thanks especially to our GLS instructors, Dr. Rachael Murphey, Dr. Susan Thorne, and Mr. Chris Sims.
We also extend our special good wishes to our Fall 2022 GLS graduates: Janet Yu, Di Xu, and Andie Shelton. We hope they – along with our Summer 2022 graduates Matt Duncan and Diana Zwilling -- will be able to return for our full Commencement exercises in early May.
I have been so grateful this fall that the abated – though still lurking – pandemic has allowed us many more opportunities to connect with one another in person, especially in GLS classes and our holiday party, as well as at our renewed “in-person” porch sittings. Look for porch sitting to resume in March as soon as the time change gives back more hours of late-day light.
For now, I want to let you know that GLS staff will be available on a hybrid basis at GLS house through the end of this week (December 16). For the two weeks after that (December 19-January 2), as is our custom, we will close GLS House, and staff will be working remotely when not taking vacation. Your best bet during that time will be to email if you need the staff’s help.
We will return to a hybrid schedule with someone at GLS House each day starting January 3, and we look forward to welcoming six new students to GLS when classes begin on January 12th. Soon after that, look for news of our Summer 2023 course offerings.
I hope that the next few weeks bring you time for rest, relaxation, and family and friends.
Be well!
Warmly,
Anne
