In light of Omicron, the GLS staff will continue to work a hybrid schedule (although someone will be at the GLS house each day). We will continue to hold meetings by Zoom. Email or phone remains the best way to each us.

Deadline to Apply for May Graduation
TODAY, February 01
Master’s students are required to complete the Apply to Graduate process in ACES for the semester in which they plan to graduate. There is no penalty if you apply to graduate and do not graduate during that semester.

GLS student Brie Russell wins Dean's Research Award

"Storytelling and writing provide reader and writer alike the powerful opportunity to explore trauma and grief. The Dean's Research Award will help cover my travel expenses to study creative nonfiction and short story writing at the University of Oxford, England. I will research elements of grief-informed writing during my time at Oxford."

Oxford Summer School 2022
As noted in the previous issue of the GLS Biweekly Update, the University of Oxford plans to go forward with the International Summer Schools this year. Oxford faculty and administrators are reviewing admissions criteria and application processes and plan to publish the summer 2022 information on February 1. Lisa will email the GLS student listserv with details as soon as they become available.

The 2022 Digital Humanities Institute will be held April 21-22 at UNC-Charlotte. The Call for Proposals for virtual presentations, panels, and lightning talks is open on the theme Digital Humanities and the Environment. Apply by the deadline here.

Deconstructing Digital Scholarship (RCR Forum): Students will explore digital scholarly publications through hands-on activities and discuss and reflect on best practices. This workshop will be led by Liz Milewicz, co-director of the ScholarWorks Center, and Arianne Hartsell-Gundy, Head of the Humanities Section at Duke University Libraries.

CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS AND STORY SLAM
This year's AGLSP annual conference will be held in San Antonio, Texas, Monday, October 10 through Wednesday, October 12! AGLSP is looking for presenters and storytellers that would like to participate while we explore the theme, BiblioTECHa: Reading the Past, Performing the Present, Writing the Future. The deadline for the Call for Presentations and the Story Slam is May 1, 2022.
