The university's Memorial Wall outside of the Divinity School lists the members of the Duke community who have died in service since the Korean War. (From "Veterans at Duke: A Growing Population with a Growing Network of Support")

Honoring GLS Veterans

To all of our GLS students and alumni who are currently serving or have served in our U.S. military branches, we wish to extend our heartfelt thanks for your sacrifices and service to our country. Service members and veterans continue to enrich the GLS community with their experience and unique perspectives. Our students have written a range of master's projects related to military history and service, one of which is John Bechtold's Exemplary Master's Project Dear Madison. You can read this and other GLS master's projects on DukeSpace.

Director Anne Whisnant is eager to bring the good news of GLS to wider audiences.

Help GLS Spread the Word

From Director Anne Whisnant: Hi everyone! I am looking for ideas and suggestions for events or forums in the Triangle area that would offer good networking opportunities in which I might speak informally with people about the GLS program. Are there regular gatherings, conferences, events, or other venues where people that might be interested in the GLS program convene? Please let me know! I’d like to set up a schedule of outings for the coming months and welcome all suggestions. Even better: if you are going to such an event or gathering, and I could accompany you, please let me know!
