GLS Biweekly Update - October 1, 2021
Please note: the GLS staff currently are working a hybrid schedule. Email and phone (GLS main number - 919-684-3222) remain the best way to reach us.
We've been busy getting GLS House spruced up after working remotely for so long, but Anne plans to host porch sitting sessions with current students on Monday afternoons in the near future. Keep your eye out for an email announcement and signup.
GLS will offer three new courses for Spring 2022! Stay tuned for course descriptions and video previews.
Please note: the deadline to apply for December graduation is Friday, October 15.
Master's Project Proposal Deadlines for Spring Projects
We want to remind you that deadlines for Spring 2022 master's projects are soon. The deadline for the proposal meeting is Friday, October 8 (but it will be easier to schedule during the previous week). The deadline for submitting the final version of the proposal is Friday, October 22. See this page of our website for a list of significant MP dates.
In order to schedule the proposal meeting, let Anne or Kent (whoever is chairing your committee) know some times that you and your supervisor are available. Before the meeting, you should be drafting and revising a proposal based on advice from your supervisor. You will need to get a draft proposal to Anne or Kent at least 24 hours before your proposal meeting. At the meeting, we will make sure that we are all on the same page, confirm that the project you propose meets our MP guidelines, anticipate any problems, and figure out what changes your proposal might still need.
If you plan to do a Spring 2022 master's project, but have not been in touch with Anne or Kent, please do so as soon as possible.

GLS IS HIRING! Though we know we'll never find another Dink, we are now ready to move forward with filling her position. We need a tech-savvy, friendly, warm person - ideally someone who loves liberal arts and is interested in lots of things. Humanities-friendly folks a plus! Please share this with your networks and let us know if you are referring someone in particular that we should look at. A detailed job description is posted on the Duke HR site. The job requisition number is 153848.
