GLS House Gets a Makeover
Just in time for the new school year, GLS has gotten a bit of sprucing up. Check out our video tour below and see what a great space we have! Students are encouraged to make use of the student lounge during our regular business hours.

Let the Porch Sitting Commence-
Mondays 5:30-6:30 p.m.!
From GLS Director Anne Whisnant:
With over 500 square feet in well-used screen porches at my own home in Chapel Hill, I was thrilled to find that the GLS House also features a cozy second-floor screen porch! With our cleaning and painting now complete, I’m ready to start a new tradition of GLS porch sitting.
Starting Monday, September 9th and continuing as long as temperate weather holds through the fall, I invite GLS students, faculty, or alums to join me on the porch on Mondays from 5:30-6:30. Come share a drink and some snacks, and let’s talk! No registration or RSVP needed, just drop by. Hope to see you!

GLS Information Sessions Scheduled
GLS will host three information sessions in September, including our first-ever live webcast, with more to follow throughout the fall. If you know of anyone who might be interested in the GLS program, please share this information with them. If they can't make one of the info sessions, we're always glad to meet with them one on one. See the GLS website for details.

Faculty Spotlight: Amy Laura Hall
Congratulations to Dr. Amy Laura Hall, whose book Laughing at the Devil: Seeing the World with Julian of Norwich, was a Scholarly Typographic selection of the 2019 AUPresses Book, Jacket, and Journal Show. Dr. Hall teaches regularly for GLS and is a favorite of MALS students.

Graduate School Workshops for Master's Students
The Graduate School offers an array of professional development workshops for master's students. See the TGS website for the full schedule.

Save the Date: GLS Homecoming Open House
SAVE THE DATE: GLS will host our second annual Homecoming Open house from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, October 11, at GLS House. We would love to see you there. Registration is now open for alumni who plan to attend Homecoming events campus-wide. Be sure to look for the Graduate Liberal Studies icon (pictured at left) under Groups so you can add your profile and connect with other GLS grads.
GLS is open from 9-5, Monday through Friday. Please stop by to say hello or use the student study area. For general information about GLS, please see our website.
