GLS Biweekly Update - September 3, 2021

Please note: the GLS staff currently are working a hybrid schedule. Email and phone (GLS main number - 919-684-3222) remain the best way to reach us.

Remember: Drop/add ends today, September 3

GLS will be closed for Monday, September 6, for Labor Day. It is a staff holiday; classes, however, will be in session.

From the Director

Hello, GLS Students,

We are two weeks into the semester now, and as you’ve seen, conditions will continue to require us to be flexible as the university responds to the pandemic. Still, it has been wonderful to see many of you in person recently at GLS House! We hope those of you who are new to Duke are settling in well to classes and life in Durham.

We will be sending out this e-News biweekly to keep you updated on GLS-specific information and deadlines, so be sure to read through it each time it comes. In between newsletters, as you’ve seen, we will also be calling your attention to opportunities around campus that we think will interest you. This is on top of emails you already get from the Graduate School with professional development-related events. There is so much going on around Duke; we hope you will take advantage of as many of the talks, workshops, and programs as you can.

Please remember that Lisa, Kent, and I are always available to talk or meet with you if you need assistance with anything. But we are working a hybrid, staggered schedule that is still in a bit of flux, so check in by email before dropping by the house if you need to see a particular person. We are also still encouraging Zoom for meetings so as to reduce opportunities for anyone to get sick.

Take care,

Anne
