Joanne Abel (MALS '04) was a guest panelist on WUNC's the State of Things (July 30, 2015) to discuss The Russell Schoolhouse: Durham’s Last Rosenwald School which the basis of Joanne's Master's Project, Persistence and Sacrifice: Durham County's African American Community & Durham's Jeanes Teachers Build Community and Schools, 1900-1930. Joanne is the adult programming and humanities librarian for the Durham County Library. She earned her bachelor of science degree in education from Georgia Southern College, her master of library science from North Carolina Central University, and her master of arts in liberal studies from Duke University.
