Irreversible Housing Situation

Description

This project is a collection of three short stories that explore themes of displacement,
immigration, temporary housing, and identity through settings like a gentrifying apartment, a
surreal hotel, and a long-term motel in post-wildfire Los Angeles. Influenced by poetic fiction,
absurdism, transgressive storytelling, and writers such as Jen George, Don DeLillo, and Kelly
Link, the stories center on characters navigating change, cultural adjustment, and instability.
The work examines how spatial movement intersects with personal transformation and the
search for belonging. The stories blend realism with the fantastic, drawing attention to the
strange within the ordinary.
