GLS students, Anahad Kaur and Véronique Koch were selected for The Graduate School's Emerging Leaders Institute. The Emerging Leaders Institute is an in-depth professional development program for Graduate School students and postdocs, designed to prepare students to perform as competent, confident, and effective leaders at Duke and beyond.
EK Hayes attended the Phi Alpha Theta Carolinas Regional Conference and received the award for Outstanding Graduate Paper, Badwoman Blues: The Role of Violence in the Music of 1920s Black Blueswomen, with perfect scores from the moderators.

RCR Forum: Open Scholarship: Practices and Principles
Wednesday, March 22, 1:00 - 3:00 PM
With the recent trends towards openness as expressed in funder and journal policies, many scholars are looking to build new practices into their workflows and enhance their impact. This workshop will present an overview of how and why you might incorporate open scholarship practices into your research and publishing, including the benefits to you, your discipline, and the broader public.
GRADUATE STUDENT AWARDS FOR RESEARCH IN LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN
Duke graduate and professional school students pursuing a masters or PhD degree may apply for brief periods of research on Latin America or the Caribbean. Funding is provided by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Application deadline for research in summer and fall is Friday, March 24, 2023.
